Statement by the Minister of Environment and Green State Policy

Wa wa wa, greetings to you all at COP26,

My name is Fanny Kogoya, and I am the Minister for the Environment and Green State Vision, for the Provisional Government of West Papua. On behalf of the people of West Papua, I convey our deepest thanks to you for all your support. I cannot be there with you today but my spirit is with you all.

We West Papuans urgently need your support. Over five hundred thousand of us have been killed in this genocide.

We need everyone to support us, especially the young generation. You in the international community have the power to make your governments listen so please be our voice and help our voice to be heard.

Indonesia is not only killing us, Indonesia is also killing our nature, our environment. They are doing this because of their greed for our resources. With multinational companies, they are logging our sacred rainforests. They are working to destroy our planet Earth.

Indonesia is not only killing us, Indonesia is also killing our nature, our environment. They are doing this because of their greed for our resources. With multinational companies, they are logging our sacred rainforests. They are working to destroy our planet Earth.

Our Green State Vision will place the power back into the hands of indigenous West Papuans. We share this planet with all beings of the world and

we want all beings be free with us. We believe the land is our mother. We want to keep our mother safe.

Humanity cannot fight climate change if we do not support the solutions of indigenous people. West Papua is the breathing lungs of the planet. To keep our planet’s lungs breathing, the world must support West Papua and our struggle for climate justice and freedom.

Thank you for all your support.
